Battershill, Duffy, Marshall Earn USTFCCCA Honorable Mention at NCAA Outdoor Meet

AUSTIN, Texas – In difficult conditions, with temperatures hovering around 90 degrees, junior Will Battershill (3000m steeplechase), sophomore Erick Duffy (pole vault) and senior Myles Marshall (800m) represented Harvard on Day 1 of the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Battershill, the first men's Harvard student-athlete to compete at the NCAA outdoor meet in the steeplechase, placed 17th overall in the event, placing 10th in heat 2 in 9:02:98. For his efforts, Battershill will earn USTFCCCA Honorable Mention recognition.

Duffy, also making his debut at the NCAA outdoor meet, placed 19th in the pole vault, clearing 17-3/4 in his first attempt to also earn USTFCCCA Honorable Mention.

Marshall, who won the 800m at the NCAA East Preliminary Meet, was near the lead pack in his heat before colliding with several runners and taking a fall. The senior captain placed 23rd (1:58:55), finishing the race despite the fall.
