AUSTIN, Texas – On Day 2 of the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, sophomore Anna Juul represented Harvard in the 1500 meters, placing 22nd overall in challenging weather conditions.
Juul, making her debut at the NCAA outdoor meet, placed 11th in heat 1, finishing the race in 4:23.57. She was Harvard's first women's NCAA outdoor qualifier in the 1500m after a fantastic showing at the NCAA East Preliminary meet, setting a new personal mark in the event (4:20.02).
The West Chester, Pa. native is third on Harvard's all-time performance list in the 1500m after a standout outdoor campaign.
First-year Sam Welsh will compete in the discus throw tomorrow after had a fantastic first season at Harvard. His discus effort at the NCAA East Preliminary meet was a new personal record (194'9"), the third best mark at the event, and 15th-best throw in the nation. He is the first men's discus thrower from Harvard to compete at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
