Track and Field Competes at University of Limerick in HYOC Tuneup

LIMERICK, Ireland – In preparation for the 125th anniversary of the meeting between the track and field programs of Harvard, Yale, Oxford and Cambridge this upcoming weekend, the Crimson and Bulldogs competed against the University of Limerick in Ireland this past weekend.

Several Crimson competitors put forth winning performances, with the Harvard men nearly sweeping field events. Sam Welsh, coming off an All-American performance at the NCAA Outdoor meet, won the discus throw (54.63m), while Donagh Mahon (1.95m) took first place in the high jump. Erick Duffy also earned top honors in the pole vault (4.85m), and Kyle Murphy earned victory in the triple jump (14.41m).

One the women's side, Ngozi Musa placed second in the 100m, while Brooke Starn neared a personal best in the 1500m, placing second (4:36.06).

Harvard will head to Birmingham (U.K.) along with Yale to compete against the University of Birmingham on Wednesday (June 26), before the HYOC Meet at Cambridge on Saturday (June 29).
