CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – No. 4 Harvard-Radcliffe lightweight crew returns to the Charles River this weekend to participate in the Lightweight Invitational, hosted by MIT. Saturday's races (except for the varsity eight) and Sunday's events will be streamed live on the Ivy League Digital Network.

Last Week
The Radcliffe varsity eight ranked fourth against a stacked field in the grand final of the Knecht Cup last Sunday afternoon at Mercer Lake.

In the grand final, the top Black and White improved its heat time, but finished well behind the pace. Stanford won the Knecht Cup title with a time of 6:35.96. BU was just 2.76 off the winner for second place and Wisconsin took third with a time of 6:45.74. Radcliffe A clocked a time of 6:47.20 and the Black and White B boat crossed in 6:53.94 for fifth. 

The Lightweight Invitational
Now in its fifth year, the Lightweight Invitational brings BU, MIT, Stanford and Wisconsin to the Charles River. Wisconsin won the first title, before Radcliffe took the next two and Stanford won a year ago.  

Scouting the Field
For the second-straight week, the Black and White will go up against No. 1 Stanford, No. 2 Boston University, No. 3 Wisconsin, and No. 5 MIT in the varsity eight.

In the Polls
The Black and White sit at No. 4 in this week's USRowing Collegiate Poll, after starting the season at No. 2. Stanford, BU and Wisconsin sit No. 1-2-3.

Last Year
Radcliffe took home silver at the IRA National Championships, earning a medal at the event for the fourth-straight year. A program first, the Black and White varsity eight won its third-straight Eastern Sprints title with a three-second victory over BU on the Cooper River.

Dating back to April 21, 2012, Radcliffe has won 22 of 23 dual races, including a 2-0 mark this season.

In the Launch
Starting her first season with the Radcliffe lightweights, Sarah Schwegman brings extensive experience and leadership to the Black and White as an elite-level lightweight rower, coach, and trustee of Riverside Boat Club. From 2007-2013 Schwegman competed in World Championship Trials, National Selection Regattas, National Championships, Canadian Henley, and Head of the Charles.
