No. 5 Radcliffe Lightweights Ready for Knecht Cup

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The No. 5 Radcliffe lightweight crew will look for its second Knecht Cup title in three years against a stacked field this weekend at Mercer Lake in West Windsor, New Jersey. The Black and White faces off against several of the top varsity eight boats in the country at the event that will take place April 8-9.   

10:11 a.m. – V4 Heat 1
10:32 a.m. - V8 Heat 2

9:30 a.m. – V4 Final
2:10 p.m. – V8 Grand Final

Last Week
Radcliffe won the first and second varsity eight races Bates College and Simmons College in the first Black and White event on the Charles River this spring.

The Knecht Cup
This marks the third-straight year and ninth time overall since 2004 that the Black and White will participate in the Knecht Cup. Radcliffe won the event in 2015 and is seeking its second title in three seasons.

Scouting the Field  
Radcliffe will go up against No. 1 Stanford, No. 2 Wisconsin, No. 3 Princeton, No. 4 Boston University, No. 6 Georgetown, No. 7 MIT and No. 8 Tulsa in the varsity eight race.

Last Year

Radcliffe placed second at the Eastern Sprints Championships and was third at the IRA National Championships.  

RVL Wins
Dating back to April 21, 2012, Radcliffe has won 25 of 29 dual races. Last week, the Black and White varsity eight fell at Georgetown, as the Hoyas outpaced Radcliffe, 6:09.7 to 6:17.6.

In the Launch
In her second season at the helm, Radcliffe lightweights head coach Sarah Baker guided the Black and White to a second-place finish at Easterns and a bronze medal at IRAs. Baker has a 7-3 career record at Radcliffe.
