No. 2 Radcliffe Lightweight Crew Opens Season on Quest for Class of 2004 Cup

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The second-ranked Radcliffe women's lightweight crew opens the 2018 season Saturday on the Charles River, hosting No. 8 Georgetown and Bates. The matchup against Georgetown will see the victor hoist the Class of 2004 Cup. 

The race will be streamed live on the Ivy League Network with Bill Spaulding on the call.

CLASS OF 2004 CUP
Radcliffe boasts a 9-3 advantage in the all-time series against Georgetown. The Black and White won eight straight Class of 2004 Cups from 2009 – 2016, but the Hoyas earned an eight-second win in last year's matchup. 

STUDENT REWARDS
Men's and Women's Crew – Free Shuttle Service from 74 Mt. Auburn St. to the Mass Ave. Bridge from 8-11 a.m. for Harvard undergraduates. Breakfast and coffee will be provided.

LAST YEAR
The Black and White went 4-2 in 2017 before taking the top podium spot in at the Eastern Sprints and fifth at the IRA National Championships. 

SCOUTING GEORGETOWN
The Hoyas began the spring with a victory at the Occoquan Sprints last weekend. Georgetown finished fifth at last year's Eastern Sprints and sixth at the IRA National Championships.

In her third season at the helm, Radcliffe lightweights head coach Sarah Baker guided the Black and White to a 9-4 dual record. Radcliffe captured the Eastern Sprints title last season and earned a bronze medal at the IRA National Championships in 2016.
