No. 6 Radcliffe Lightweight Crew Captures Muri Cup

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.  – The No. 6 Radcliffe lightweight crew brought home the Muri Cup Saturday morning, defeating No. 7 MIT in all four races staged. No. 2 Boston University edged the Crimson in all four races to earn the Beanpot.

Temperatures were in the high 40s with a rising sun over the Charles River and an 8-10 mile per hour headwind.

In the varsity eight race, the crews started off on equal footing, but near the 1,000 meter mark separation began to take shape with the Black and White distancing itself from the Engineers, while the Terriers led the field. At the finish, Radcliffe clocked in at 7:20.8, 5.4 seconds ahead of its counterpoint from MIT. BU earned the Beanpot in 7:12.3.

Radcliffe raced away from MIT in the varsity four competition, winning by a sizeable open water margin at 8:32.6. The 4X squad defeated MIT by 10.4 seconds with a time of 8:41.1. The Black and White raced two boats in the V4B event, with both crews finishing ahead of MIT. Radcliffe's A boat posted a time of 8:56.7, six second off of BU's winning time.
