CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard fencing teams will look to remain among the national elite during the 2013-14 season, as the Crimson has announced its schedule for the upcoming year this afternoon.
With captains Michael Raynis and Lucas Lin on the men's side and Alexandra Kiefer and Kara Lee guiding the women's squad, Harvard opens the new season at the Penn State Open Nov. 8-9. On Dec. 5, the Crimson women will welcome Tufts to Cambridge before both teams travel to Fairfield, Conn., for the National Squad Tournament Dec. 8.
The teams will take a seven-week break before returning to action after the New Year, when the Crimson make the trip to Queens, N.Y., for the St. John's Invitational Jan. 26.
The Harvard men will defend its 2013 Ivy League crown and via for its eighth Ivy League championship while the women fight for its fourth Ancient Eight title Feb. 8-9 in Providence, R.I.
At the seventh fencing Beanpot Feb. 12, the Crimson will look to defend its undefeated six-year run as the best of Boston since the inception of the tournament in as many years.
Harvard returns to post season competition March 9 in Wellesley, Mass., for the NCAA Regionals before the Crimson will then look to send its top fencers to the NCAA Championships in Columbus, Ohio, March 19-23.
