Itzkowitz Recognized as ECAC Women’s Fencer of the Week

The junior captain is off to an undefeated start through six contests (Gil Talbot).

DANBURY, Conn. – Aliya Itzkowitz of the Harvard women's fencing team has been named ECAC Fencer of the Week after an unbeatable start to the 2014-15 season.

Itzkowitz, a junior from London, England, went 18-0 through the first six matches of the year, including a 15-0 mark at the Tradition Tournament, defeating opposing fencers from Tufts, Penn State, Temple, Vassar, NYU and Sacred Heart. Her dominant performances have helped Harvard begin the season 6-0, and the sabre squad is undefeated as well.

Itzkowitz is no stranger to on-the-strip accolades, as she was an All-America first team selection a year ago. The women's fencing team returns to action at the St. John's Invitational January 24.
