No. 7 Women’s Fencing Hits the Road for Ivy League Championships

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- Beginning at 10 a.m. Feb. 9 and running through Feb. 10, the No. 7 women's fencing team heads to New Haven, Connecticut for the 2019 Ivy League Championships. Harvard will face Yale, No. 3 Columbia, Cornell, No. 9 Penn, Brown and No. 6 Princeton.

Where: Lanman Center, Yale

In the round-robin styled tournament, the Crimson will first face opponents from host Yale at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9. Following bouts with the Bulldogs, Harvard finishes the first day of competition with a rematch against No. 3 Columbia and Cornell. Action resumes when Harvard faces competitors from No. 9 Penn, Brown and No. 6 Princeton the following day at 10 a.m.

What to Know?

  • Earlier this season, the women defeated No. 3 Columbia 14-13 at the St. John's Invitational.
  • Last year, the Crimson finished third, tallying a 4-2 record with victories over Brown, Penn, Cornell and Yale.
  • Harvard has captured a total of four Ivy titles with its most recent coming in 2016.
  • Fencers to watch: Veronica Czyzewski-Sabre (20-7), Natalie Yang- Foil (22-8), and Shawn Wallace- Epee (18-6)
