Golf Announces Incoming Class of 2022

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard golf coaches and team members will welcome four freshmen for the 2018–19 season; three to the women's squad and one to the men's team.

We are proud that our incoming freshmen and team members are representative of the academic excellence embodied by Harvard. They each have impressive credentials in the classroom and in other leadership roles. They also continue to demonstrate a passion for innovation and volunteerism on special and meaningful causes, which makes us extremely proud.

Chloe Royston (Durban, South Africa; Durban Girls' College) Chloe is following in her brother's footsteps. Greg graduated this spring as the highly decorated senior captain of the men's golf team. Chloe has amassed her own impressive results and accolades to date, including the following:

  • 1st in 2018 KwaZulu-Natal Open Championship with an 8-under par score and setting a new course record with a 6-under par round, 64
  • 2nd in 2018 North West Women's Open Championship
  • Four top-5 finishes and three top-10 finishes in South African national women's amateur golf events (2018)
  • Ranked 8th in South African Women's Golf Amateur Rankings (2018)
  • Received Durban Girls' College's 2018 Dux Award for top student
  • Awarded outstanding performance in Mathematics and Science from University of KwaZulu-Natal
  • Achieved distinctions in 8 academic subjects and in the top 1% in the country in 6 subjects in the 2017 IEB national school leaving examinations
  • Provincial (state) representation in 2 sports -- Swimming and Golf
  • Enjoys playing the flute 


Anina Ku (Basking Ridge, NJ; Ridge High School) Anina is the second member of her family to join an Ivy League collegiate golf program. Her sister, Hana Ku, is a recent graduate and former captain of Princeton's women's golf team. Following is a sampling of Anina's accomplishments:

  • Captain of Ridge High School's Varsity Girls Golf Team (2017 & 2018)
  • First Team All-State (2014-2018)
  • 2 AJGA wins: Golf Performance Center Junior (2015), and AJGA Junior at Blue Hill (2017)
  • Qualified for 3 USGA events: US Girls Junior (2013, 2015), US Women's Public Links (2014)
  • 12 AJGA top-five finishes
  • 2017 Transamerica Scholastic Junior All-America Team
  • New Jersey High School State Championship Runner-Up (2016, 2018)
  • NJSIAA Scholar Athlete Award for Ridge High School (2018)
  • 11th-ranked in the country for class of 2018 -- Rolex AJGA Rankings
  • New Jersey National Youth Camp volunteer (2015-2016)
  • Project Sunshine volunteer (2015-2018; collaborated with peers to create kits for terminally ill children and their caregivers)
  • Social Services Club volunteer (2017-2018; ambassador, teacher, and events coordinator for music, art, sporting, and social events that develop positive social skills, promote camaraderie, and unify the student body)
  • Fluent in Violin; at age 4 played at Carnegie Hall

Elizabeth Wang (San Marino, CA; San Marino High School) Elizabeth is one of the top junior golfers in the country and has already competed in professional events. Following is a brief listing of Elizabeth's accomplishments:

  • 2nd in 2018 U.S. Women's Open Sectional Qualifying at Industry Hills, CA (72-69, 3-under par)
  • T-34 in 2018 U.S Women's Open Championship (72-74-71-77)
  • T-31 in 2016 ShopRite LPGA Classic (73-66-69, 5-under par)
  • 3 AJGA wins: 2014 Rolex Girls Junior Championship, 2014 AJGA Junior at River Ridge (70-70, 4-under par), 2013 AJGA Junior at Diablo Grande (70-70, 2-under par)
  • 23 career top-10 finishes in AJGA events to date
  • Winner, 2015 Junior PGA Championship (68-70-71-73, 2-under par)
  • 2014 Pacific League MVP (high school golf)
  • Round of 16, 2015 U.S. Women's Amateur Championship
  • Round of 32, 2013 U.S. Girls' Junior Championship
  • 2nd-ranked in the country for class of 2018 -- Rolex AJGA Rankings
  • Four-time AJGA Rolex Junior All-American (2013-2016)

Brian Isztwan (Huntingdon Valley, PA; William Penn Charter School) Brian's mother, Alexis Isztwan '92 and uncle, Sean Dillett '18, are alumni of Harvard. Brian's golf and academic accolades include:

  • William Penn Charter School's Varsity Golf Team 2-time Captain and 5-year Letter Winner
  • Varsity Golf MVP & First Team All InterAc League (high school years)
  • Three top-5 finishes in AJGA events including 2nd in 2017 AJGA Philadelphia Junior Open; T5 in 2017 AJGA Otter Creek Junior Championship and T4 in 2015 AJGA Philadelphia Junior Open
  • InterAc League Season-Long Champion and Scoring Average Leader (2017, 2018)
  • 81st-ranked in the country for class of 2018 -- Rolex AJGA Rankings
  • 2018 National Merit Scholarship Finalist
  • 2017 Transamerica Scholastic Junior All-America Team
  • 2017 Winner of William Penn Charter School's Harvard Book Prize
