Royston, Women’s Golf Crowned Champions at Dartmouth Invitational

HANOVER, N.H. – Opening the 2019-20 campaign with a celebration, Harvard women's golf won the Dartmouth Invitational by 14 strokes, while sophomore Chloe Royston was the event's individual champion.

Royston's victory is the first of her career, coming after firing an eight-under 136 to win by five strokes. Sunday's 18 holes included a career-best 66 for Royston, which is tied for the best round by a Harvard player in program history. Sophomore Anina Ku finished third with a two-under 142, including a round of 69 to close the event, while first-year Meiyi Yan finished 10th in her career debut at plus-two.

Harvard shot an eight-over on day one, leading second-place Stetson by two strokes after 18 holes. Royston was in second-place after the first day, firing two birdies against no bogies.

The perfect event continued for Royston on day two, as she finished a bogey-free tournament while tallying six birdies on the day. Ku finished with a team-best seven birdies in the second round, as Harvard topped the field by 12 strokes to win overall by 14 shots.

Harvard Highlights

  • Royston tallied her first-career individual tournament victory, including a program-best tying round of 66 on the second day, matching Tiffany Lim's 66 at the Princeton Invitational in 2013.
  • The win is Harvard's first since winning the Ivy League Championship in 2019.
