Picard, Maschmeyer to Represent Harvard at 2014 Four Nations Cup

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard women's hockey program will have two representatives at the 2014 Four Nations Cup in Kamloops, British Columbia, as junior captain Michelle Picard and junior netminder Emerance Maschmeyer were selected to Team USA and Team Canada, respectively.

The Four Nations Cup is slated to feature a round-robin style tournament between the U.S., Canada, Finland and Sweden with ensuing bronze and gold medal games. While Canada is looking to defend its Four Nations Cup title from 2013, the U.S. is hoping to rebound from its third place finish a year ago in Lake Placid, New York.

The Americans open up the tournament Nov. 4 against Finland at 4 p.m. EST, before the Canadians host Sweden at 10 p.m. EST. The Red, White and Blue will play Canada Nov. 5 and Sweden Nov. 7 before playing for a spot on the podium Nov. 8. Canada's last test will come on Nov. 7 versus Finland.

Picard, who competed this past February for the U.S. in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, is making her fifth trip to the Four Nations for the Americans as a defenseman. Maschmeyer was recently named to Canada's Women's National Development Team when the U.S. and Canada met for a three-game series in August.
