The Crimson checks in at No. 4 in the preseason polls for the second-straight season (Elan Kawesch).
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – With the puck drop for the regular season opener just a few weeks away, Harvard women's hockey was ranked fourth in the U.S College Hockey (USCHO) and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine preseason poll, as announced by the organizations.
Harvard was one of four ECAC teams placed in the top-10 poll by the USCHO, with Clarkson (No. 5), Quinnipiac (No. 7) and Cornell (No. 10) also appearing in the preseason rankings. With its placement at No. 4, the Crimson has been ranked in the USCHO poll for 66 consecutive weeks dating back to Oct. 15, 2012.
USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine slotted three ECAC teams in the top-10, led by the Crimson at No. 4. Like the USCHO poll, Clarkson was picked fifth and Quinnipiac seventh. Northeastern was inserted into the poll in a tie for ninth, knocking out Cornell.
The Crimson was picked to repeat as champions in the ECAC, garnering eight of the 12 first place votes available. Goaltender Emerance Maschmeyer, defenseman Michelle Picard and attackers Miye D'Oench and Mary Parker were named to the Preseason All-ECAC team.
Harvard opens its season on October 23 at Dartmouth's Thompson Arena. The 7 p.m. puck drop will be broadcast live on the Ivy League Digital Network.
