Women’s Hockey Welcomes Eight as Class of 2021

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Adding a strong group of freshmen to a talented core, Harvard women's hockey and the Landry Family Head Coach for Harvard Women's Ice Hockey Katey Stone have announced the incoming class of 2021: Emma Buckles, Becky Dutton, Becca Gilmore, Kate Glover, Brooke Jovanovich, Keely Moy, Runasa Sano and Sydney Sorkin.

"We are looking forward to this incoming group of freshmen joining our program," said Stone. "With hard work and a commitment to excellence, they will have the opportunity to make a strong impact. From the net out, we will increase our depth and create a much more competitive environment from the inside out."

The Crimson comes into the 2017-18 season with four of its top six scorers returning, including points leader Lexie Laing. The incoming class hails from five states, as well as Canada and Japan.

Emma Buckles | Defense | Toronto, Ontario | Havergal
Played with the Toronto Aeros for four years … Silver medalist at the 2017 World Ice Hockey Championships with Team Canada … Won the gold medal with Team Ontario Red at the 2016 Canadian National Championships … Provincial gold medalist in 2016 with the Toronto Junior Aeros … Assistant captain of the Aeros for the 2014-15 season … 2016 PWHL gold medalist with the Aeros … Won the Hewitt Cup from 2015-17 with Havergal varsity hockey … 2012 ice hockey participant in the Ontario Winter Games … Participates in the Havergal symphonic band … Honor Roll student from 2012-16 … Founder of the Healthy Active Living club at Havergal … Brother played ice hockey at Cornell. 

Becky Dutton | Goalie | Milford, Conn. | Kent School
Attended the Kent School for a post graduate year … Four-year letterwinner in hockey and lacrosse at the Taft School as well as a two year letter winner in soccer … Letterwinner in hockey at the Kent School … Captain of the hockey and lacrosse teams as a senior … Played for the East Coast Wizards from 2015-17 … Two time Founders League all-star … Selected to be a part of the 2015 USA Women's Hockey National Team Goalie Development Camp … Was named an All-Western New England all-star in lacrosse for the 2014 and 2015 seasons … Volunteered at St. Vincent De Paul Society … Honor roll student at Kent School in 2016-17.

Becca Gilmore | Forward | Wayland, Mass. | Noble & Greenough
Six-year varsity forward at Noble & Greenough … Nobles ice hockey 2016-17 captain … 2017 John Carlton Memorial award winner … Won the 2017 ISL MVP … All-Scholastic in 2017 for the Boston Globe and Boston Herald … All-ISL from 2015-17 … All-NEPSAC first teamer from 2015-17 … Named the top USA U18 forward at the IIHF World Championships … 2016 USA U18 Player of the Game at the IIHF World Championships vs. Canada … 2011 East Coast Selects Player of the Year … Named USA Today All-USA from 2015-17 … Played in the 2016 USA U22 National Team Summer Series … Scored 128 goals with 106 assists for a total of 234 points in 168 career games at Nobles … 2015 IIHF World Championship high-scorer … Gold medalist at the IIHF World Championships in 2015 and 2016 … IIHF World Championships silver medalist in 2014 … Volunteered with the East Coast Jumbos from 2012-17 … Graduated with Academic Highest Distinction by achieving Highest Distinction awards in 2014, 2015 and 2016 as well as High Distinction in 2015 … Mother played hockey at Bowdoin College from 1978-82.

Earned five varsity letters in ice hockey and four in swimming at Hopkins … Two-time varsity hockey captain … All-state honorable mention winner in 2015-16 and 2016-17 … All-Lake conference from 2015-17 … Member of the U19 Jr. Whitecaps NAHA Championship team in 2015 … Participated at the 2014 USA Hockey Select 15 National Camp in 2014 … Selected to participate at the USA Hockey U18 Select 66 Camp in 2015 and 2016 … Graduated with honors … National Honor Society Member … Hopkins Education Foundation volunteer in 2015-16 … Brother plays hockey at the University of Minnesota.

Brooke Jovanovich | Forward | Oakville, Ontario | Appleby
Earned three varsity letters in both ice hockey and field hockey … 2016 U18 Team Canada member for a series vs. USA … Won a gold medal in 2016 with U18 Team Ontario at the Canadian National Women's U18 Championships … 2015 OFSAA Hockey AAA/AAAA gold medalist … Three time CISAA Field Hockey League champions … 2016 Gold Optimates Award winner in 2016 … Mother played on the U18 Canadian soccer national championship team and won a silver medal at the World Master's Games in Torino, Italy … Father played football at Boston College and went on to play for the Seattle Seahawks in 1992 while also playing in the CFL from 1992-96 … Cousin of Harvard basketball player Danilo Djuricic.

Keely Moy | Forward | San Diego, Calif. | Kent School
Captain of the Kent varsity hockey team in 2016-17 … Founders League champion in 2015 and 2016 … Kent girls hockey team MVP in 2014-15 and 2015-16 … Nominated into the National Society of High School Scholars … Tapped in the Senior Council of 2017  as a class representative … Sister of Tyler Moy '17 who was drafted by the Nashville Predators … Father played hockey at Western Michigan and was the hockey coach at Ferris State and USIU.

Runasa Sano | Forward | Nishitokyo, Japan | Otsuka
2016 captain of the Tokyo all-stars … Member of the 2015 Japanese U18 National Team … Japan Women's Ice Hockey League Champion for three straight years from 2015-17 … Played in the 2015 IIHF U18 Women's World Championships … Tokyo Scholar-Athlete Award winner … Won the Superintendent of Education Special Prize.
