WAKEFIELD, Mass. – In honor of the 40th Anniversary of the Women's Beanpot Tournament this February, Hockey East, in conjunction with the head coaches of all four programs, have selected a 25-member commemorative team, including eight Harvard alumni, that showcases the talent that has played over the tournament's history.
The Harvard honorees include Jennifer Botterill '03, Julie Chu '07, Nicole Correiro '05, Angela Ruggiero '04, Liza Ryabkina '11, Tammy Shewchuk '01, Cheryl Tate '84 and Sarah Vaillancourt '09. Jennifer Botterill was also selected as co-captain of the squad.
Harvard has won 14 Beanpot titles, including seven straight from 1999-2005, and has advanced to the championship game 28 times – more than any of the other three schools. The Crimson has a 48-29-1 record at the tournament.
The 40th Anniversary team will be recognized between the first-round games on Feb. 6, with Harvard taking on Boston University at 5 p.m. and Northeastern facing Boston College at 8 p.m. The consolation and championship games are scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 13 at 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. respectively.=
