Women’s Hockey Tests Waters with Exhibition Contest Against McGill

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard women's hockey team is set to see its first game-like action this Friday when it hosts McGill for the programs' annual exhibition contest. The game will be played at the Bright-Landry Hockey Center and is set for a 6 p.m. puck drop.

What to Know

  • Harvard returns seven of its top eight scorers from the 2017-18 season, including Becca Gilmore who was the first Crimson first-year to register 30-plus points since 2006.
  • Senior captain Lexie Laing returns to the roster after missing the 2017-18 season. Laing was the squad's top scorer during the 2016-17 season, recording 21 points on eight goals and 13 assists.
  • Coach Katey Stone will welcome seven newcomers to the roster, four forwards, two defensemen and one goaltender.
  • The Crimson was picked to finish seventh in the ECAC Hockey Preseason Coaches' Poll. 

At the Helm
Katey Stone begins her 24th season as The Landry Family Head Coach for Harvard Women's Hockey. Stone enters the 2018-19 season with a 464-224-48 (.663) record and is the winningest coach in Division I. In her tenure at Harvard, Coach Stone has molded 14 Olympians, six Patty Kazmaier Award winners, 24 All-Americans and has lead the program to the NCAA Tournament 11 times.

The Crimson will open the 2018-19 season next Friday, Oct. 19 against Dartmouth. Game time is set for 6 p.m. and the matchup will be broadcast on ESPN+.
