CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Five former Harvard women's ice hockey players have been named to pro rosters for the 2019-20 season. Four players, Jillian Dempsey '13, Lexie Laing '19, Briana Mastel '17 and Mary Parker '15 will suit up for the Boston Pride of the NWHL. Kaitlin Tse '19 has signed with the Shenzen KRS Vanke Rays, a team based in China, that competes in the Women's Hockey League in Russia.
Dempsey will captain the Pride for the second consecutive year after being with the team since 2015. Last season, the forward had ten goals, four assists and was +8 through 16 games. Parker, who begins her third full season with the team, had three goals in ten games last year. Laing, the Crimson's captain for 2018-19 who is set to make her professional debut, racked up eight goals, 18 assists, and was +4 through 31 games of play with Harvard last season. Mastel returns to the ice for the first time since 2016-17, in which she had two goals and 13 assists in 20 games.
The Pride will open up its season on Oct. 5 against the Metropolitan Riveters in New Jersey.
The KRS Vanke Rays began play on Sept. 14 and is currently 2-2 on the season. Tse, who had seven goals, eight assists, and was +7 through 30 games with Harvard last season is currently +2 through four games. The KRS Vanke Rays return to the ice on Oct. 4 to face HC Tornado.
