Baskind Selected to Capital One Academic All-District First Team

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Senior captain Melanie Baskind of the Harvard women’s lacrosse team has earned a nod to the Capital One Academic At-Large All-District first team. Baskind will now be nominated for Academic All-America distinction.

Baskind, a native of Framingham, Mass, was also tabbed to the Academic All-America first team in the fall as a member of the Crimson women’s soccer team and now has received academic all-district accolades four times.
A second-team All-Ivy League selection as a midfielder on the lacrosse team, Baskind, a neurobiology concentrator, was also selected to the Ivy All-Tournament squad. She paced Harvard in points (33), assists (six), and caused turnovers (15), while standing second in goals (27) and ground balls (37). Baskind was also selected as the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week Feb. 27, April 9 and April 16.
As a member of the women’s lacrosse team, Baskind served as captain in each of the last two years and garnered All-Ivy status for three straight seasons.
Baskind also served as co-captain of the Crimson women’s soccer team and was the unanimous choice as the Ivy League Player of the Year last fall, while earning All-Ivy first team honors and guiding Harvard to its third Ivy League title in the last four seasons.
