Brooks Joins Women’s Lacrosse Staff as Operations Coordinator

Brooks will join the staff of a program that has reached the Ivy League tournament in each of the last two seasons (Penny Ashford).

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Former North Carolina standout Katie Brooks has been named the operations coordinator for the Harvard women's lacrosse team, Lisa Miller, The Carole Kleinfelder Head Coach for Harvard Women's Lacrosse, announced.

Brooks will handle travel and gameday planning for the Crimson, as well as scheduling and off-the-field player management.

"We are thrilled and excited that Katie has chosen to join our staff," Miller said. "She will be a huge asset in the office given her tremendous work ethic, great enthusiasm and positive approach. We also believe her experiences as a two-sport captain at North Carolina, Canadian National Team player, and training background will provide our current student-athletes with a wonderful role model. Katie is an exceptional addition to our coaching staff, and we are looking forward to the upcoming season."

Brooks served in a similar capacity for the Harvard women's soccer team from 2014-15, working as the director of operations under Ray Leone, The Branca Family Head Coach for Harvard Women's Soccer. Brooks helped the Crimson win the Ivy League in 2014, and the squad advanced to the NCAA tournament.

 A 2009 graduate of UNC with a degree in psychology, Brooks was a two-sport athlete for the Tar Heels. A two-time team captain for the women's lacrosse team, Brooks led the team to the 2009 NCAA title game. She also served as team captain of the soccer team and was a key member of the 2006 NCAA championship team. A two-time recipient of the Kelly Muldoon Core Value Award, Brooks and the Tar Heels won three Atlantic Coast Conference crowns during her soccer career.

In 2008, Brooks earned a spot on the Canadian Women's National Lacrosse Team and won a silver medal at the 2013 Women's Lacrosse World Cup and a bronze medal at the 2009 competition. During the spring of 2015, Brooks was inducted into the Winchester High School Hall of Fame.

Harvard will open the 2016 season on the road at Hofstra Feb. 20. The Crimson is coming off an 8-8 season and has advanced to the Ivy League tournament in each of the last two years.
