CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After leading the Harvard women's lacrosse team to an 8-2 victory over Brown April 9, senior goalie Kelly Weis of the Harvard women's lacrosse team has been named the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
Weis, who hails from Garden City, New York, recorded seven saves, all in the first half, as the Crimson improved to 7-3 overall and 3-1 in the Ancient Eight. The two goals allowed marked the fewest the Crimson has surrendered to an Ivy League opponent since a 7-2 victory at Penn on March 19, 1994.
With her seven stops against the Bears, Weis, who also collected three ground balls in the game, has 402 career saves, good enough for third on the all-time Harvard list.
