CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After helping the Harvard women's lacrosse team clinch a spot in the Ivy League tournament, senior goalie Kelly Weis has been named the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
In a must-win game at Yale, Weis stopped 11 shots between the pipes, including seven in the first half and four from the free position to guide the Crimson to its third-straight Ivy League championship appearance with a 13-4 victory over the Bulldogs.
The Garden City, New York native tabs her second Ivy Defensive Player of the Week honors of the season, as she previously claimed the award April 11.
Harvard will open up the Ivy League tournament at No. 14 Penn (12-3, 7-1 Ivy) Friday, May 6 at 7 p.m. The game can be seen live on the American Sports Network and the Ivy League Digital Network.
