WASHINGTON - The Tewaaraton Foundation has announced the first round of additions to the 2017 Tewaaraton Award Men's and Women's Watch Lists, presented by Under Armour, and senior attacker Marisa Romeo has been selected to the women's list. The Tewaaraton Award is recognized as the pre-eminent lacrosse award, annually honoring the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States.
A three-time All-Ivy League selection, including a first team member each of the last two seasons, Romeo leads the Crimson with 18 goals and 23 points. Romeo has at least four goals in each of the last three games, helping Harvard jump out to a 4-1 start to the year. Her 3.60 goals per game mark is second-best in the conference and seventh-highest among all of Division I lacrosse.
Romeo continues to climb the Harvard record books, ranking fifth all-time with 132 goals and 177 points.
The Tewaaraton Award selection committees are made up of premier collegiate coaches and are appointed annually by The Tewaaraton Foundation. On April 27, the field will be narrowed to 25 men's and 25 women's nominees.
Five men's and five women's finalists will be announced on May 11 and invited to the 17th annual Tewaaraton Award Ceremony that will be held in Washington, D.C., on June 1.
