McGovern, Pisano Join Women’s Lacrosse Staff

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Lisa Miller, The Carole Kleinfeder Head Coach for Harvard Women's Lacrosse, has announced the hiring of Kelsey McGovern and Robert Pisano to the coaching staff.

McGovern comes to Harvard from Massachusetts where she served as the defensive and draw coach from 2016-17. In her role with the Minutewomen, she directed the defense and draw units and planned, created and delivered scouting reports. Prior to UMass, McGovern served in the same capacity at Bryant from 2014-16. She helped plan and organize all practices for the Bulldogs and develop game plans, recruiting and fundraising.

Gaining international experience as well, McGovern has coached the Italian Women's National Team since 2014.  Her experience coaching internationally has led her to coaching at the 2015 European Championships.

McGovern earned her bachelor of science in kinesiology from UMass where she was a IWLCA All-American in 2013. At the time of her graduation, she was the UMass career and single-season record holder in in draws. She currently plays for the Philadelphia Force in the United Women's Lacrosse League.

Pisano joins Harvard after graduating from Marquette where he was a member of the men's lacrosse team all four years. Playing midfield, he appeared in 30 games for the Golden Eagles. A member of SAAC at Marquette, he was a Big East All-Academic team member from 2014-17.

The Needham, Massachusetts native has coached the club team Laxachussetts since 2013 providing guidance and leadership to kids aged 9-17. He also coached with Needham Youth Lacrosse with kids aged 8-14 teaching fundamentals and skills.

Last season, the Crimson made the Ivy League semifinals and return second-leading scorer Keeley MacAfee who scored 37 goals while tallying nine assists.
