Women's Lacrosse Falls In California Opener at No. 24 Stanford, 21-11

STANFORD, Calif. – Julia Glynn had two goals and three assists, and Robyn White added her first two career goals, but Harvard women's lacrosse (1-1) fell to No. 24 Stanford, 21-11 at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium on Friday night.

Stanford outshot Harvard, 40-18, and enjoyed the edge in ground balls, 16-13, and draw controls, 23-10. Goalie Olivia Gundrum made 10 saves in her second consecutive start to open the year.

The Crimson, which trailed in the first half 11-2, went on a spirited run to close the half, scoring five consecutive goals to pull within reach after thirty minutes of play.

Keeley MacAfee (goal, assist) began the run with a goal off a free position shot at 10:57 of the first half, which was followed quickly by goals from Marley Jenkins (9:27) and Hannah Keating (8:51).

White added her first two career goals in the final 1:10 of the first half, scoring at 1:10 and with :21 to play to pull the Crimson with four heading into the break.

But the Cardinal scored five in a row in the first 10:00 of the second half to put the game of reach for good.
