Harvard to Begin National Search for Women’s Lacrosse Coach

Harvard Athletics will conduct a national search for its women's lacrosse head coach.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Athletics has announced it will be conducting a national search for its head coach of women's lacrosse. Lisa Miller, The Carole Kleinfelder Head Coach for Harvard Women's Lacrosse, will not be returning for the 2019 season.

"We thank Lisa for her years of dedication and service to the Harvard women's lacrosse team and our student-athletes," said Bob Scalise, The John D. Nichols '53 Family Director of Athletics. "We wish her well in her future endeavors."

Miller's overall career record is 191-139, and her record at Harvard was 85-87.  During Miller's tenure, the team qualified for the Ivy League Tournament six times following its establishment in 2010, including a championship game berth in 2011.  Under Miller's leadership, Harvard beat seven nationally-ranked opponents, and in 2011, Miller led the team to its first national ranking (No. 20) in 14 seasons. At Harvard, Miller coached two Ivy League Rookies of the Year, 42 All-Ivy League selections, and the league's leading scorer in different five seasons (2009-11, 2014, 2018).  She has mentored four academic All-Ivy selections, one Academic All-American, and 31 IWLCA Academic Honor Roll selections.

During Miller's tenure, the women's lacrosse head coach position was endowed by Harvard alumnae, in honor of Carole Kleinfelder, the legendary coach of Harvard Women's Lacrosse from 1979-2003.

"Coaching lacrosse and dedicated student-athletes has always been a passion for me and I feel blessed to have worked with so many smart, competitive, caring, hardworking, and talented young women over the years. Words cannot describe how proud I am of my former players," said Miller. "After more than 20 years of coaching, I am looking forward to spending more time with my sons and pursuing other interests. It has been a privilege to work with the fantastic assistant coaches, alumnae, and staff who are excellent mentors, role models, and teachers to the current student-athletes and would like to thank them for their hard work and dedication to the program.  I wish the women of the Harvard lacrosse program every success on the field and in the classroom."
