Women's Lacrosse Set For Challenge at No. 1 Boston College on Saturday

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. –
 Harvard women's lacrosse (1-0) returns to the field for a road contest this weekend at cross-town rival No. 1 Boston College (2-0) on Saturday (Feb. 23) at 1 p.m. at Newton Campus Lacrosse & Soccer Field. After a one-year hiatus in the series, Harvard and BC will meet for the 40th time in the last 41 years.

What to Know
• Senior captains Nicole BaioccoMarley Jenkins, and Keeley MacAfee will help guide the Crimson. MacAfee, an All-Ivy League First Team and IWLCA All-Northeast Region Second Team selection, is Harvard's leading returner. She notched 78 points (53 goals, 25 assists) a season ago. Jenkins, a defender, saw action in 10 games in 2018, starting in nine with two goals on the season. A draw control specialist, she earned 26 draw controls on the year, with three caused turnovers and a ground ball. Baiocco was also a key part of Harvard's attack last year, notching 41 points (14 goals, 21 assists).

• Harvard holds a 27-12 edge in the all-time series against Boston College, which dates back to 1979. In the last meeting between the two teams on Feb. 25, 2017, Harvard took the Eagles to overtime, falling 13-12 to BC at Newton Campus Field. Keeley MacAfee led the Crimson with four goals in the contest.

• Last Saturday, senior attack Keeley MacAfee had four goals and an assist, scoring her 100th career goal to lead Harvard (1-0) past New Hampshire, 14-6, last Saturday (Feb. 16) afternoon. Senior attack Nicole Baiocco matched a career high with three goals, and Tessa QueriGrace Hulslander and Caroline Garrity each notched two goals for Harvard. Sophomore goalie Grace Rotondo made six saves to earn the win. The victory was the first for Devon Wills, The Carole Kleinfelder Head Coach for Women's Lacrosse.

• Picked first in the ACC Preseason Coaches Poll, No. 1 Boston College returns three IWLCA First Team All-Americans from a team that reached the championship game of the 2018 NCAA Tournament. 2018 Tewaaraton Award winner Sam Apuzzo headlines the group. She leads the team with 13 points (10 goals, three assists) in two games this year. Senior midfielder Dempsey Arsenault (five goals, three assists) and senior defender Elizabeth Miller are also leading players for BC.

• The Crimson finished the 2018 campaign with wins in three of its last four games, capping off the year with a 6-9 record. Senior attack Julia Glynn earned Ivy League Attacker of the Year, finishing the season with 95 points (69 goals, 26 assists), the third most in a single campaign in program history. Harvard finished second in the Ivy League with an average of 15.07 goals per game.
