
The Crimson improves to 6-4 on the season with a commanding 25-9 win over Hofstra (Gil Talbot).
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Closing out the regular season, the Harvard wrestling team improved to 6-4, including 4-4 in EIWA action with a commanding 25-9 victory over Hofstra (9-11, 2-9 EIWA) on Saturday.
The Crimson began the day winning eight straight bouts, beginning with a major decision (12-0) from junior Nolan Hellickson (125). Fellow junior Ryan Friedman (133) picked up his second win of the day, edging out Garrett Lambert in a 2-0 decision.
Sophomores A.J. Jaffe (141) and Hunter Ladnier (149) continued to exhibit dominance on the mats with back-to-back wins. Jaffe earned an 8-2 decision over Hofstra's Vinny Vespa, while Ladnier pulled out a 6-2 decision over Ryan Burkert.
At 165 pounds, senior Tyler Tarsi notched his second win of the day with a sudden victory, 6-4, over Ricky Stamm in the first overtime period. Senior captains Josef Johnson (174) and Kanon Dean (184) rounded out the Crimson's eight wins. Johnson grabbed a 7-3 decision over Sage Heller, while Dean edged out Cory Damiana, 8-6.
