Harvard will take on Yale in its Ivy Rugby Conference and home opener Saturday at noon (Gil Talbot).
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard's women's rugby team is set for its home and Ivy Rugby Conference opener against Yale Saturday at noon at Cumnock Field.
Last Time Out
Harvard is coming off a 23-17 win at West Chester, earning its first opening day win in program history. Haley Langan, Ann-Marie Barrett, Claire Collins and Mariah Turner each scored a try for the Crimson.
Harvard has won all three of its games against Yale in shutout fashion, outscoring the Bulldogs 160-0.
Harvard scored 23 points against West Chester in its regular season opener, the highest offensive point total for a regular season debut in program history.
Junior Mariah Turner has scored a try in each of Harvard's regular season openers the past two seasons. The junior sealed the Crimson's win over the Golden Rams, scoring Harvard's final try of the game. Turner scored two of Harvard's three tries in last season's opener in a 24-15 loss to Brown Sept. 13.
Yale picked up back-to-back shutout wins in Boston Sept. 12 to start its season at the Beantown Tournament. The Bulldogs opened with a 14-0 win at UMass Boston before thumping Northeastern, 76-0, in its second game.
Yale posted a 0-5 record last fall and has yet to win an Ivy Conference matchup.
After taking home the Ivy Rugby Conference title in its inaugural season, Harvard finished fourth overall in conference play last season with a 3-2 mark.
Harvard will head to Providence to take on Brown, the defending Ivy League champions, Sept. 26 at 1 p.m.
