Eight Home Contests Highlight 2016 Women’s Soccer Schedule

Harvard will look for its third Ivy title in the past four years (Penny Ashford).

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Chris Hamblin, The Branca Family Head Coach for Harvard Women's Soccer, has announced the team's schedule for 2016. The slate features eight home contests to be played at Jordan Field, and four games against teams that appeared in the 2015 NCAA tournament.

The Crimson opens the season against Connecticut, which advanced to the round of 16 in the postseason a year ago, on August 26 at Jordan Field. Harvard follows with home contests against Army and Central Connecticut on August 29 and September 1, respectively.

The first road trip of the year will be to Louisville on Sunday, September 4 for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff. The four-game stretch away from Cambridge continues with bouts at Boston College (Sept. 7), Providence (Sept. 11) and New Hampshire (Sept. 15). Harvard will welcome Villanova to Jordan Field on Sunday, September 18 before hitting the road for its first Ivy contest of the season, at Penn September 24.

Three-straight home contests begin the month of October for Harvard, with Yale, Cornell and Boston University set to visit Cambridge. A series of three Ancient Eight clashes away from home finish the month at Brown, Princeton and Dartmouth, and the Crimson will end the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 5 when it hosts Columbia.

Harvard posted an 8-7-2 mark in 2015, including a 5-1-1 mark in Ivy League play. The Crimson returns six All-Ivy selections from a year ago, including first team honorees Bailey Gary and Margaret Purce.
