PRINCETON, N.J. – Collecting the second and third weekly honors of her career, first-year Angela Caloia of the Harvard women's soccer team has been named the Ivy League Co-Player and Rookie of the Week. She shares Player of the Week honors with Izzy Glennon from Dartmouth.
Caloia led the Crimson to an unbeaten, nine-goal week with wins over UMass Lowell (4-1) and Long Island (5-0). The Washington, D.C. native had a goal and assist in each game, including the game-winner against LIU. She has tallied three points in three consecutive games, and leads the Ivy League with 16 points and eight assists this season.
Caloia is the first Harvard player to win both Ivy League Player and Rookie of the Week since Sophie Hirst, who is on the honor roll this week, did the same on Sept. 3, 2018. She entered the weekend as one of five players nationally averaging one assist per game, and joins a group of 21 in the country averaging two points per game.
Harvard opens its Ivy League campaign on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 2 p.m. against Penn.
