No. 1 Women’s Squash Downs No. 9 Stanford in Season Opener

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard's No. 1 women's squash team made a strong opening statement in its season opener, downing No. 9 Stanford on its home court, 8-1.

The Crimson earned its 11th-straight win over the Cardinal and improved to 1-0 on the year. Harvard won in convincing fashion, downing Stanford by a total game score of 28-5.

Kayley Leonard earned the victory at the No. 1 position in her collegiate debut, winning in four sets, while Alyssa MehtaKatherine Tutrone, and Sue Ann Yong each swept their respective games.

Dileas MacGowan earned her first win of the season to stay undefeated in her career and Sophie Mehta made quick work of her opponent in her collegiate debut.

Senior captain Isabelle Dowling earned her seventh career win at the No. 7 position and Caroline Monrad earned a hard-fought battle at the No. 8 spot to round out the victors for the Crimson.

The Crimson will return to the courts Dec. 1 at Dartmouth for a 5 p.m. matchup.
