Women’s Tennis Senior Erica Oosterhout Earns Wins in ITA Masters Invitational

MALIBU, Calif.– Harvard women's tennis senior captain Erica Oosterhout earned three wins in the Oracle ITA Masters. Oosterhout won two mixed doubles matches and one singles match on the weekend. 

In doubles play, Oosterhout was matched with Christian Sigsgaard of the University of Texas. The duo won in the first round of competition against Felipe Sarrasague (William and Mary) and Rosie Cheng (Elon), 6-1. Later that day, Oosterhout and Sigsgaard defeated the No. 3 seed tandem from USC Salma Ewing and Daniel Cukierman by a score of 6-4 to advance to day two. Oosterhout and Sigsgaard eventually fell, 6-4, to the No. 6 seed, Baylor's Sven Lah and Washington State's Michaela Bayerlova, who will compete in the mixed doubles championship later today.

Oosterhout also earned a victory in singles competition, beating the No. 14 seed Bianca Mok. After dropping the first set  3-6, Oosterhout battled back to win the second and third sets, 6-3, 6-2, to advance to the next round. The following day, she fell to No. 3 Bayerlova of Washington State, 6-2, 6-2.

The Oracle ITA Masters is one of the premier events on the collegiate tennis season. Players are chosen based upon conference representation, similar to the NCAA Tournament.
