Women’s Volleyball Selected Fourth in Ivy League Preseason Poll

PRINCETON, N.J. – With the start of the 2019 season quickly approaching, the Ivy League has announced its preseason media poll today, August 29th. Harvard women's volleyball has been picked to finish fourth in the league, earning one first-place vote.

The Crimson rounded out the top four of the poll with 80 points, edging Dartmouth (55), Brown (45), Columbia (44) and Penn (24). Harvard trails top-ranked Princeton (120), Yale (117) and Cornell (91).

Harvard finished the 2018 season in the top four of the conference for the sixth-straight year. The Crimson returns 11 letterwinners from last season, including co-captains senior Maclaine Fields and junior Evelyn Gray. Head coach Jennifer Weiss enters her 27th season of coaching at the Ivy League level. Weiss has accumulated a 151-158 (.489) Ivy League record, has led Harvard to three Ivy League Championships and has guided 81 All-Ivy selections during her tenure. 

The Crimson opens the 2019 season hosting the Harvard Invitational, Sept. 6-7. Harvard will face Sacred Heart on Friday, Sept. 6 at 7 p.m., followed by a doubleheader on Saturday, Sept. 7 against Colgate at 1 p.m. and Rhode Island at 7 p.m. All games will be broadcast on ESPN+.
