Women's Volleyball Drops 3-1 Decision at UC Santa Barbara

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Wrapping up the Thunderdome Classic last night, the Harvard women's volleyball team suffered a 3-1 setback to tournament host UC Santa Barbara. The Crimson fell to 2-4 on the season by set scores of 15-25, 25-21, 10-25 and 17-25. At the conclusion of the tournament, Evelyn Gray was named to the All-Tournament team after registering 22 kills and seven blocks throughout the Invitational. 

Junior co-captain Evelyn Gray paced the Crimson offensively for the second-straight match with 12 kills to hit .393 on the night for a team-high attack percentage. Grace Roberts Burbank challenged UCSB's defense along the net, chipping in 10 kills to join Gray in double figures. First-year Ashley Wang and sophomore Bella Almanza continue to be efficient while directing the Crimson offense, collecting 19 and 17 assists, respectively.

Three Crimson plays collected double-digit digs, led by Sandra Zeng for the second-consecutive match with 13. Roberts Burbank followed closely behind with 11 for her first double-double of the season, while Mindie Mabry tallied 10 to help the back court.

Up Next
Harvard will return home to host Boston College on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. to kick off the New England Challenge. The Crimson will then travel to Northeastern on Thursday, Sept. 19 for a 7 p.m. match up.
