CAMBRIDGE, Mass. –
Harvard swept Boston University, 7-0, Saturday afternoon at the
Murr Center Tennis Courts in the opening dual match of the season.
Junior Agnes Sibilski clinched the victory for the Crimson with a
6-3, 6-4 win over the Terrier's Inayat Khosla in the No 5
matchup.
In the No. 1 singles position, sophomore Holly
Cao defeated BU's Stefanie Nunic, 6-4, 6-4. Harvard's
freshmen were solid in their first outing of the spring as Hideko
Tachibana defeated Francine Whu, 6-1, 6-7(8), 6-3 in the No. 2
singles and Kristin Norton handed Petra Santini a 6-3, 6-3 loss in
the No. 3 contest. After struggling in the first set, rookie Sophie
Chang bounced back and defeated Monika Mical in the No. 4 matchup.
Alex Lehman won the No. 6 match by default.
In doubles competition, Cao and junior
Samantha Rosekrans won their No 1 match over Whu and Mical, 8-5,
while Norton and Tachibana won, 8-2, in the No. 2 contest. The No.
3 match was forfeited by BU due to injury, so Chang and sophomore
Samantha Gridley came away with the default win.
The Crimson travels to Waco, Texas, Jan. 29,
to take on Baylor in the National Indoors Qualifier.
