HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The Harvard wrestling
team won five matches en route to a 20-20 tie against Hofstra
Saturday afternoon at the Mack Sports Complex. The Crimson scored
bonus points in two matches to improve to 2-3-1 on the young
season.
Freshman Chadwick Eason and Steven Keith gave the Crimson a 10-0
lead after Eason accepted a win by forfeit in his first appearance
of the season and Keith moved up to 133 pounds for a 12-2 major
decision over Jeff Rotella.
Senior co-captain J.P. O'Connor, the top-ranked wrestler at
157 pounds, handed 19th-ranked Jonny Bonilla-Bowman a 6-1 loss to
remain unbeaten at 17-0 this season. O'Connor is just one win
away from tying Dustin DeNunzio '99 for second on the
all-time wins list at Harvard (115).
Junior Michael Sadler grabbed his first win of the season with a
13-6 victory over Ryan Colmer at 165 pounds. Senior co-captain
Louis Caputo improved to 8-2 at 184 pounds with a 9-1 major
decision over Anthony Tortora. The win give Caputo 111 career wins,
which ties him for fourth on the all-time wins liast with Ed Mosely
'00.
The Crimson continues dual action at the Lone Star Duals Saturday,
Jan. 16. Harvard faces nationally ranked Oklahoma State, Arizona
State and Utah Valley State.
