CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard
women's tennis team was back on the courts Tuesday at the
ITA/Riviera All-American Championships. The Crimson's top
singles player Holly Cao and doubles duo of Cao and Samantha
Rosekrans competed in the qualifying draws of the tournament at the
Riviera Tennis Club.
Cao and Rosekrans began the day in the doubles bracket where
they faced off against Maria Sanchez and Kaitlyn Christian of
Southern California. In a closely contested match, Sanchez and
Christian were able to come away with the victory, 8-5.
Cao looked to rebound in singles as she took on NC State's
Sanaa Bhambri. Cao took an early lead in the match winning the
first set, 6-4. Bhambri would battle back though, taking the second
set 6-1. In the decisive third set, each player battled for the
win, but Bhambri would break Cao to take the set 6-4, and the
match, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4.
The women's tennis team is slated to be in action this
weekend as they compete at the USTA Billie Jean Invitational in
Flushing, N.Y.
