CLAREMONT, Calif. The Crimson set a
season-high in goals with 21 in winning its opener over Caltech
Saturday, then took a tough loss in tournament host
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps' home pool, 13-6, to split its final games
of the Claremont Convergence Tournament in Claremont, Calif.
Harvard (6-10, 0-2 Collegiate Water Polo Association) finishes
the 2010 Claremont Convergence Tournament with a 2-2 mark. It is
the first time the Crimson has won more than one game in California
since 2004.
The Beavers (0-10) gave up 20 or more goals for the sixth time
this season as Harvard ran away with the 21-2 win. Sophomore Antone
Martinho led the team with a career-high five goals. Junior Mike
Katzer added four scores while senior Alex Thompson
led the team in assists with five.
It was a tough third period that got Harvard in the end against
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in a 13-6 loss. The Stags outscored the
Crimson 5-1 in the period to pull away. Freshman Neal O'Hara and
Katzer had two goals each to lead Harvard in scoring, while junior
co-captain Luka Babic
notched three helpers.
Harvard is back in the pool Sunday in Santa Barbara, Calif.,
this time against No. 5 UC Santa Barbara, with the game starting at
1 p.m.
