NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. – Three Harvard
wrestlers had their hands raised at the Crimson fell to Columbia,
30-15, Friday night at University Gym.
Senior co-captains Louis Caputo and J.P. O'Connor both scored
six team points for the Crimson with their wins Friday night.
Freshman Paul Liguori picked up his sixth wins of the season in
just his third match since December.
Liguori picked up a 9-8 win over Steve Santos at 149 pounds to
improve to 6-7 overall. Liguori held a 7-2 lead after the first
period after a pair of takedowns and three points on back points,
but Stantos scored a takedown in each of the next two periods to
close the gap.
O'Connor earned his team-leading fourth fall of the season
over Jake O'Hara. The top-ranked wrestler at 157 pounds
scored a quick takedown and turned O'Hara for another three
points. The Oxford, N.Y., native is 25-0 on the season and 14-0 in
dual action.
Harvard travels to No. 6 Cornell for its final dual meet of the
season. First bout is slated to start at 3 p.m.
