CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- The Harvard men's tennis team
suffered a narrow defeat, 4-3, to Binghamton Tuesday evening
at the Murr Center Tennis Courts. The Crimson falls to 9-8 on the
season while the Bearcats improve to 16-1.
Harvard got down to business early, winning all three doubles
matches to claim a 1-0 advantage heading into singles action. Aba
Omodele-Lucien and Christo Schultz earned an 8-4 victory at the top
doubles slot. Alexei Chijoff-Evans and Joshua Tchan cruised to an
8-2 win at the No. 3 position. Alistair Felton and Andy Nguyen
capped off the sweep with an 8-7 decision at the second spot.
The Crimson managed to pick up just two singles wins while
Binghamton snagged the top four slots. Tchan breezed to victory at
the No. 5 position, 6-1, 6-1. Schultz claimed Harvard's third point
of the match with a 6-2, 6-4 victory at the sixth singles spot.
Felton nearly pulled out a win at the No. 4 slot, falling in three
sets.
The Crimson looks to make a run at the program's 28th Ivy League
crown as the team kicks off conference play as it travels to
Columbia, April 2, and Cornell, April 3.
