Alexandra
Kiefer was one of four Harvard fencers to place in the top-20
during the women's portion of the Garret Open (Gil
Talbot).
University Park, Pa. – A 2011-12
All-American and 2010-11 national champion, Alexandra Keifer picked
up another trophy this weekend. The junior captain placed second
and took home a silver medal in foil as the Harvard women's fencing
team began its season at the 41st Garret Open hosted by Penn
State.
Led by senior Felicia
Sun's eighth-place showing, Harvard fared well in the epee
events. In the first competition of her collegiate career, freshman
Nina van
Loon placed 10th while Emma Vaggo
earned 12th.
Freshman Aliya
Itzkowitz took eighth in sabre in her Crimson debut.
In total, Harvard placed six women in the top-20 of their
respective events, with Kara Lee
finishing 19th in sabre.
