Women's Tennis Continues Fall Season at Billie Jean King Invitational

Harvard travels to its third individual tournament of the fall season (Athletic Communications).

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard women's tennis will compete at its second tournament with the full team at the Billie Jean King Invitational October 3-5 in Flushing, New York. At the last tournament with the full team, Harvard won two of three flights, and won more than 70 percent of its matches.

Last Time Out
Sophomore Monica Lin and freshman Annika Ringblom competed at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships in Pacific Palisades, California. As a doubles team, Lin and Ringblom knocked out the round's No. 2 seed, and came one win away from advancing to the next stage of the tournament. In the singles flight, Lin fell in a tough match against her opponent from Texas Tech.

#Winning
Through two tournaments this fall, Harvard has added vigorously to the win column. The Crimson has found success in both singles and doubles play, and has won over 70 percent of its 51 matches.

On the Sidelines
Traci Green is in her eighth season at the helm for the Crimson. Under her guidance, Harvard won the program's 18th Ivy League title in 2009 with a 13-8 overall record and a 6-1 conference mark. Green owns a 73-63 overall record, including a 71-46 mark over the past six seasons, and 30-19 mark in the Ancient Eight.

Back in Crimson
Sophomores June Lee and Monica Lin, and juniors Amy He and Amanda Lin returned as letterwinners from the 2013-14 squad that went 11-8 overall. Monica Lin led the Crimson with 25 total victories in singles play, including a team-best 13 wins in dual-meet action. Amanda Lin was the Crimson's other 20-match winner from last season, while He registered a team-leading six Ivy League victories during 2014's spring season. Lee finished with 14 wins over last year's schedule. 

Fresh Faces
Head Coach Traci Green added the seventh-best recruiting class in the country according to TennisRecruiting.net. Ellen Jang-Milsten, Nikki Kallenberg and Annika Ringblom come to Harvard from around the country to make up Harvard's second consecutive top-ten class, and fourth in the past six seasons.

Aye Aye, Captain
Senior Sylvia Li was chosen to be the team's captain for the 2014-15 academic year. Li is the 52nd captain in program history.
