Kallenberg tops teammate Lin in A-division final (Traci Green).
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard women's tennis dominated the competition at the Billie Jean King Invitational en route to victories in all four singles flights. Freshman Nikki Kallenberg earned top honors in the A-division, while sophomore June Lee and juniors Amy He and Amanda Lin also won their singles divisions.
Kallenberg won every set in the competition, advancing through the bracket after victories over opponents from Long Island, UConn and Charleston Southern before facing teammate Monica Lin in the A-Division finals. Kallenberg won the match 6-2, 6-2.
Lee stood alone at the top of the B-division bracket after four-consecutive victories. Lee defeated opponents from UT-Arlington, UConn, and Charleston Southern en route to a championship in her flight.
He advanced through the C-division with straight-set defeats of each of her opponents. The junior toppled challengers from Long Island, Fordham and UT-Arlington to win the division.
Amanda Lin was victorious in the D-division singles flight after wins against adversaries from Fordham, Texas-Arlington and Charleston Southern. Lin only lost one set en route to the division title.
In the doubles divisions, both Harvard tandems in the A-division advanced to the semifinals. The duos of He and Monica Lin and Kallenberg and Lee each won two matches in the main draw. In the B-division, senior Sylvia Li and freshman Ellen Jang-Milsten teamed up to win three matches and reach the finals, though fell in two close sets in the championship.
