CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – In the first dual match of its spring schedule, Harvard women's tennis won all nine matches to beat Rhode Island, 7-0. The Crimson moves to 1-0 with the victory.
June Lee earned a 6-0, 6-0 sweep from the No. 1 spot, while Nikki Kallenberg, Sylvia Li, and Annika Ringblom each won twelve of thirteen games from the second, third and sixth positions, respectively. Playing No. 4 singles, Monica Lin defeated her opponent 6-2, 6-4, and Amy He triumphed 6-0, 6-2 in the No. 5 spot. The Crimson combined to win the six singles matches 72-11.
The Crimson made quick work of the visiting Rams in doubles play as well, earning two shutouts. Lee and Monica Lin combined to win 8-0 from the top doubles position, while teammates Li and Amanda Lin accomplished a similar feat from the third doubles spot. Playing No. 2 doubles, Kallenberg and Ringblom earned an 8-4 victory.
Harvard travels to Nashville, Tennessee for the ITA Kickoff tournament, where it will open with host Vanderbilt on January 24 before playing either DePaul or Texas on January 25.
