Kallenberg advanced to the round of 16 at USTA/ITA Northeast Regional (Zack Williamson).
HANOVER, N.H. – Harvard women's tennis sophomore Nikki Kallenberg led the Crimson at the USTA/ITA Northeast Regional this past weekend, finishing with a 2-1 record. Overall, the four student-athletes who represented Harvard posted a 3-4 record at the tournament.
Kallenberg, ranked 98th in the country, swept Sarah Stulmann from Fairfield with scores of 6-0 and 6-0 in the round of 64. She later defeated Columbia's Star Makarome in a tight match with scores of 6-7(6), 6-3 and 7-6(9). In the round of 16, Kallenberg lost to Dena Tanenbaum from Cornell in three sets, 1-6, 6-3 and 6-2.
Classmate Annika Ringblom went 1-1 at regionals by battling to victory against Brown's Maddie Stearns, 7-6(5) and 6-3, but later lost to Elizabeth Tsvetkov from Stony Brook, 6-2 and 7-5, in the second round.
Junior June Lee lost in the first round of the tournament to Lizzie Stewart in three sets, 6-3, 4-6 and 6-3.
Freshman Erica Oosterhout could not make it past Shreya Pasricha from FDU in her first appearance at the regionals. She fell with scores of 1-6, 6-3 and 6-3.
The Crimson concludes its fall season with its own Harvard Invitational from Nov. 6-8 against Boston University, Pittsburgh and Syracuse.
