PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Harvard-Radcliffe heavyweight crew dropped five races Friday evening on the Seekonk River.

The race was moved at the last minute to Friday evening in Providence after the last remaining ice and predicted high winds on the Charles River prevented the race from taking place as scheduled. All boats dealt with rain and raced against the incoming tide. 

The closest race was the varsity four. The A4 event was a close and hard fought contest, Radcliffe finishing only a length down in a time of 7:57.60. Brown clocked a time of 7:52.87.

The first varsity eight finished a length of open water down, crossing the line in 6:41.93. The Bears were ahead in 6:34.66.

The 2V dropped its event by open water, stopping the clock in 7:05.70.

Radcliffe heads to New Jersey to take on Princeton, Cornell and Virginia April 11.
