PENNSAUKEN, N.J. – Led by second-place finishes from the second varsity eight and the varsity four C, No. 15 Radcliffe heavyweight crew placed fourth overall in the team standings at the Ivy League Women's Rowing Championships on the Cooper River Sunday.
The Black and White first varsity eight, which was seeded fourth, finished behind Brown, Yale and Princeton, coming in fourth place at 6:24.538. Radcliffe also finished fourth in the team standings with 64 team points. Brown, which won the team trophy, earned the automatic bid to the upcoming NCAA Championships by taking the marquee event.
The Bears amassed 87 team points, followed by Yale (72) and Princeton (69). Cornell (41), Penn (36), Columbia (19) and Dartmouth (19) rounded out the finishes.
The Radcliffe second varsity eight utilized a strong push to the finish, taking second place and the silver medal, passing Yale and Princeton in the final 1,000 meters. The Black and White crossed the line in 6:27.138, trailing only Brown.
In the varsity four C, Radcliffe, seeded first, took home the silver medal, finishing behind Princeton in 7:41.42. The Black and White captured third place and the bronze medal in the varsity four B, placing ahead of Yale in 7:06.601.
Radcliffe finished fourth in the third varsity eight, as Princeton narrowly edged the Black and White for the bronze medal (6:36.366 to 6:36.547). Radcliffe came in fifth in the varsity four A, as the team crossed the finish line in 7:31.36.
The Black and White will now await its fate in the NCAA Championships. The selection show will once again be streamed on NCAA.com on Tuesday, May 19 at 5 p.m.
