CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard was unable to hold off Cornell as it lost its first match of 2016, 4-3, at the Murr Center Sunday afternoon.
The Crimson earned singles victories from Nikki Kallenberg, Erica Oosterhout and Sabrina Xiong. Kallenberg topped the Big Red's Alexandra D'Ascenzo in a three-set win, 0-6, 6-2, 7-6(4). Oosterhout defeated Jane Stewart with scores of 7-5, 6-2 while teammate Xiong beat Priyanka Shah in two sets, 6-4, 6-3.
No. 52 doubles pair of Amanda Lin and Annika Ringblom secured their fifth triumph of the season to continue their undefeated streak. With a score of 6-4, the duo defeated Shah and Lizzie Stewart. Cornell picked up wins from the first and third pairs to take the doubles point.
Harvard continues its spring schedule with a match against Boston College on Saturday, Jan. 30 starting at 2 p.m. hosted by the Crimson at the Murr Center. The contest will be streamed live on the Ivy League Digital Network.
