CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard women's tennis team picked up a 4-3 win, ending a two-game losing streak, against Boston University on Friday afternoon at the Murr Center.
Starting off with a victory, the Crimson secured the doubles point as Erica Oosterhout and June Lee topped Iryna Kostirko and Barbara Rodriguez, 6-3. Harvard's Nikki Kallenberg and Isabel Jasper tallied the Crimson's other doubles win with a 6-4 victory over Remi Ramos and Kim McCallum.
In singles play three Crimson student-athletes posted triumphs, including Oosterhout, Sabrina Xiong, and Amy He. Captain He surpassed Rodriguez after retirement, and Xiong, in the No. 5 position, knocked off Ramos with set scores of 6-1, 6-0. Oosterhout defeated Sabrina Faybyshev with set scores of 6-0, 2-6, 6-2 to push Harvard over the edge, giving it a 4-3 victory.
The Crimson continues weekend play as it faces Maryland at noon and Marist at 5 p.m. on Saturday in the Murr Center, which will be broadcast on the Ivy League Digital Network.
